Halton Police are investigating a disturbing incident that occurred over the weekend in Milton involving an attempted robbery during a camera equipment sale.

According to media relations officer Jeff Dillon, the victim had listed camera gear on Facebook Marketplace and arranged to meet a potential buyer at the Bruce Trail Public School parking lot on Costigan Road around 12:25 p.m. on Saturday.

During the meetup, the situation quickly escalated when the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a metal rod and tried to steal the equipment. The victim managed to fight back, forcing the suspect to flee the scene on foot without taking anything.

Fortunately, the victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his 20s, wearing a toque, a long-sleeved shirt, and dark-colored pants. The investigation is ongoing, and residents are reminded to stay cautious when arranging in-person sales.
