A driver has been charged with careless driving after crashing into a fire hydrant in a Milton neighborhood, causing significant flooding in the area.
Halton Regional Police report that the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Trudeau Drive, near Derry Road and James Snow Parkway. A black SUV struck the hydrant, sending a powerful stream of water into the air. The force of the impact led to flooding in the basements of nearby homes, and hydro crews were forced to cut power to the affected residences for safety. Police confirmed that the driver is now facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
