Bryce Ross had already received the blessing of his soon-to-be father-in-law — all he needed next was the perfect setting to ask the most important question of his life.
That moment arrived thanks at his new family’s cherished holiday tradition.
With hundreds gathered for the opening night of the Magical Lights of Milton on Saturday, an illuminated “Will You Marry Me?” appeared at the end of the display’s first loop, completely surprising would-be bride Stephanie Geall.
Her emotional “yes” was met with cheers, tears, and hugs from thrilled family and friends.
“I’ve heard of other holiday displays hosting proposals, but we haven’t had one in 15 years. For our very first to happen on opening night — and for it to be our daughter — it was incredibly special and something I’ll never forget,” said her father David. He and his wife Donna have been dazzling Milton residents for years with their 35,000 synchronized lights set to music on Willow Avenue.
The Magical Lights of Milton runs nightly until 10 p.m. throughout the holiday season, tuned to 99.7 FM, and has raised over $100,000 for the Milton District Hospital Foundation. This year, tap-to-donate options of $10 and $20 are once again available.
Young attendee Theodore Quinn had the honor of pressing the ignition button to officially start the show, while Spring ridge Farm kept visitors warm with complimentary hot apple cider.
