Adam van Koeverden has announced his candidacy for MP in the newly created Burlington North—Milton West federal riding. The Liberal Party of Canada (LPC) candidate previously served two terms as MP for the former Milton riding.
A four-time Olympic medallist, van Koeverden has also held key ministerial roles, including Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister of Sport and Physical Activity.
“There’s still more work ahead,” van Koeverden said in an interview.
“That’s why I’m running for re-election — to continue protecting our public services, ensuring every family has an affordable place to live, safeguarding our environment for future generations, and fighting for a strong economy and good jobs.”
In the 2021 election, van Koeverden secured his seat as MP for Milton with 51.5% of the vote, earning 28,503 ballots—about 10,000 more than his closest opponent, Conservative Nadeem Akbar.
Voters will head to the polls on April 28.
