Attempted Distraction Theft Turns Dangerous in Milton: Knife Brandished in Local Neighbourhood

A distraction theft attempt took a dangerous turn in a quiet Milton neighbourhood on Saturday, June 28.

Halton Police report that a man was walking along Morley Avenue shortly before noon when a light blue or grey SUV approached him. Inside were a man and woman, both appearing to be in their 40s, who persistently tried to offer him a gold ring.

When the man tried to walk away, the situation escalated. The male driver allegedly pulled the victim toward the vehicle’s window and attempted to place a gold chain around his neck. The victim soon realized they were trying to steal his own chain and managed to grab it back.

In response, one of the suspects pulled out a knife. The victim acted quickly, punching one of the suspects in the arm to break free. Fortunately, he escaped unharmed and recovered his jewelry.

Both suspects are described as having brown skin and heavy builds. They fled the scene before police arrived. Halton Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
