Cambridge Woman Killed, Child Injured in Tragic Highway 401 Crash in Milton

A tragic collision on Highway 401 in Milton Saturday morning has claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman from Cambridge.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) report that the two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near James Snow Parkway. Preliminary investigation indicates that a passenger vehicle struck a guide rail and came to a stop when it was then rear-ended by an eastbound pickup truck.

The woman, who was driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her six-year-old daughter, who was also in the car, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The four occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.

OPP closed a section of Highway 401 eastbound for several hours to conduct a collision reconstruction and investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is urged to contact authorities.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
