Halton police have arrested and charged eight youths after a series of thefts at Toronto Premium Outlets on Tuesday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., officers were called after a group entered the American Eagle store on Steeles Avenue and allegedly stole several pairs of jeans and other clothing items. Police say the same group then targeted the Moose Knuckles store, taking multiple jackets before leaving without paying.
According to investigators, the suspects were confronted by a security guard before fleeing across Steeles Avenue into an industrial area. Officers located the group, who then attempted to run away. Two males were caught immediately, while the Halton Police K9 unit later tracked down five more males and one female.
All eight suspects, from London, Ont., have been charged with either theft over $5,000 or theft under $5,000, depending on their alleged involvement.
