Plans are moving ahead for a major healthcare addition in Milton—a new three-story, 192-bed long-term care facility is under development at the intersection of Tremaine Road and Dymott Avenue. Named The Village of Ridgeview Court, the project is being developed by Schlegel Villages Inc. and will become a key part of the upcoming Milton Education Village—the Town’s forward-looking vision for a vibrant innovation hub.
This facility is a central feature of the Milton Education Village Secondary Plan, which also includes future post-secondary institutions, diverse housing options, and a walkable, Main Street-style village Centre.
“Additional long-term care beds are needed in the community,” explained Town Planner Rachel Suffern. “Town Council has already approved the Secondary Plan, which sets the policy for long-term care and retirement residences at this location.”
Beyond offering high-quality care for older adults, the facility will also act as a "living classroom", giving students hands-on training opportunities in the long-term care sector—a practical bridge between education and real-world healthcare experience.
The development responds directly to Milton’s shifting demographics. A 2023 report by Community Development Halton showed that the older adult population (ages 75–84) in Halton Region rose by 38% between 2011 and 2021. By 2046, that age group is expected to make up 25% of the population—a 7% jump from 2021. Meanwhile, those aged 85+ are projected to increase by 15% over the same time span.
Set on a 3.4-hectare parcel of land on the west side of Tremaine Road, the building will cover approximately 12,990 square meters and feature 133 vehicle parking spaces and 40 bicycle spots. Dymott Avenue will be extended and transitioned into a cul-de-sac to accommodate the project.
If all goes as planned, residents may begin occupying beds by the end of this summer—a significant milestone for both Milton’s seniors and its education community.
Details about the project and Schlegel Villages can be found online.
