Milton District High School Students Launch Life-Saving Stem Cell Awareness Campaign

Students at Milton District High School (MDHS) are stepping up in a big way—one swab at a time.

With leadership from the Social Justice and Healthcare SHSM programs, MDHS made history as the first high school in the Halton District School Board to host a stem cell awareness campaign. Their kickoff event took place this past weekend during the 2nd Annual Milton Dessert Festival + Spring Fling Market at the Milton Sports Centre

The turnout? Incredible. Many attendees registered and got swabbed on-site, while others took home kits to consider joining the stem cell registry. It’s all part of a mission to save lives and make a difference right here in Milton.

Student Candace Lee shared heartfelt thanks for the community’s support, emphasizing that this is just the beginning of something much bigger.

As Milton grows and becomes more diverse, these students are calling on the community to rise with them—because one match could mean the world to someone waiting. Whether it’s for a baby, a teen, or a neighbour—registering today could save a life tomorrow.

They’re proud of Milton, proud of their peers, and determined to leave a lasting legacy before graduation. Let’s stand behind them and be the match!
