The Milton Fall Fair is returning this month, celebrating its 170th year. First held in 1853, the fair has rarely missed a year and continues to be one of Milton’s favorite traditions. This year’s theme is “A Patchwork in Time.”
The event is run by the Halton Agricultural Society and will feature plenty of competitions, including butter tarts, maple syrup, honey, quilts, and even youth chocolate chip cookies. Winners will represent Milton at the District Competition in October, with a chance to advance to the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Annual Convention in February.
Visitors can look forward to a busy weekend with livestock shows, blacksmith demos, dog agility shows, midway rides, tractor pulls, demolition derbies, live music, and cultural performances. Popular attractions like the petting zoo, education tent, exhibit halls, and lots of vendors with local goods and fair food will also be there.
It’s been a challenging year for the Milton Fairgrounds. Earlier, Canada Day celebrations were canceled due to fewer volunteers, higher costs, and space issues. More recently, the fairgrounds faced by-law concerns about noise, graffiti, traffic, and lighting. These issues, however, are not expected to affect the Fall Fair or future events.
Organizers thanked the Homecraft members, Board of Directors, volunteers, sponsors, and exhibitors for their hard work. They also welcome new volunteers to help keep this Milton tradition alive.
📍 The fair starts at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26th at the Milton Fairgrounds, 136 Robert Street, Milton, and runs all weekend long.
