In the early hours of Monday, March 11th, police in Durham responded to an attempted vehicle theft in Ajax. The incident involved two suspects, one of whom is a 20-year-old man from Milton.
The attempted theft occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Snowling Drive and Rushworth Drive. The victim reported that two males were trying to steal his vehicle from his driveway. Upon confrontation, the suspects fled in a red vehicle.
Police quickly located the suspect vehicle and pursued it. However, the suspects lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with a road sign. Despite fleeing on foot, both suspects were apprehended with the help of the K9 Unit.
Hussein Alibrahim, aged 20 from Milton, and 26-year-old Oday Nomery, of No Fixed Address, are facing charges including attempted theft over $5000 and mischief under $5000. Nomery also faces an additional charge of obstructing a peace officer. Both were held for a bail hearing.
