Milton Receives Nearly $1.3 Million from OLG in Latest Quarterly Funding

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued its third-quarter hosting payment of $1,289,600 to the Town of Milton for hosting Elements Casino Mohawk. This payment covers the period from October 1 to December 31 and represents a continued source of stable revenue for the community.

With this latest installment, Milton has received a total of $5,202,069 so far this fiscal year. Since the casino first opened its doors in August 1999, the town has collected more than $154 million in total gaming-related revenue. These funds are provided through OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement, which applies a standardized revenue-sharing formula to all host communities across Ontario.

Milton MPP Zee Hamid highlighted the long-term importance of these contributions, stating that year after year, revenue generated by Elements Casino Mohawk has played a key role in supporting municipal services and enhancing the overall quality of life for Milton residents. He emphasized that while host communities benefit directly from local casino revenue, 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested into communities across Ontario, helping fund healthcare, infrastructure, and community programs province wide. According to Hamid, this ongoing revenue stream has also helped Milton manage costs and keep property taxes lower over time.

Across the province, OLG reports that host communities have received nearly $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994. These contributions have supported local infrastructure projects, economic development initiatives, and job creation. In addition, more than $2.9 billion in private-sector investment has been made in casino facilities throughout Ontario over the past nine years, further strengthening local economies.

For Milton, the continued revenue from Elements Casino Mohawk remains a significant financial benefit, supporting community growth while easing pressure on local taxpayers.
