The spirit of environmental stewardship was in full bloom this past Saturday (April 26) at Area 8, Milton’s newest conservation park. Nearly 100 volunteers from the local community and Polytainers came together to plant 300 native trees in the former quarry space, setting the stage for the park’s much-anticipated early summer opening.
The tree planting event was a collaborative effort led by Conservation Halton, the Town of Milton, and Trees For Life, in honour of Earth Week. Attendees not only got their hands dirty for a great cause—they also got a sneak preview of the park’s exciting new features, including picnic areas, archery, axe throwing, and life-sized games like chess and checkers.
Backed by support from the federal government and Polytainers , this initiative is part of Trees For Life’s ambitious campaign to plant 150,000 trees in 2025—more than triple last year’s total. Since 2015, the organization has already planted over 3.34 million trees across Canada.
These new trees at Area 8 will help restore natural habitats and support biodiversity as wildlife begins to return to the area.
