Hundreds of students are set to participate in a vibrant Sports Festival in Milton focused on inclusion and active living.
The Halton District School Board (HDSB), in collaboration with Special Olympics Ontario, will host the event on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Milton Velodrome. Designed for elementary students with special education needs, the festival introduces sport in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment.
Led by Special Olympics Ontario, the initiative aims to build confidence, encourage participation, and support the development of physical literacy among young athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities. The event also provides families with an opportunity to explore community programs and resources available through Special Olympics.
“The Halton District School Board is proud to once again host this Sports Festival for elementary students with special education needs,” said Curtis Ennis, Director of Education at HDSB. “This event celebrates student success by helping participants build confidence, connect with peers, and showcase their unique skills and abilities. Opportunities like this are key to advancing our goals under the 2024–2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan. We look forward to seeing students enjoy the experience and be recognized for their achievements at the Special Olympics Sports Festival.”
