This autumn, the Halton District School Board is opening a new elementary school at 815 Kennedy Circle in Milton. Students, families, and community members can suggest names for the new school.

The HDSB sees this as a chance to:

  • Recognize the geography, history, local environment, culture, or traditions of the community.

  • Think about fairness, variety, and including everyone in the school community.

  • Celebrate a well-known person from history who has a significant connection to Halton.

  • Pay tribute to someone whose contributions to society or humanity are respected and appreciated across Canada.

Every name suggestion will be looked at by a committee that includes students and parents/guardians. They will make a shortlist of names to present to the Board of Trustees. The Board will choose the final name during one of their regular meetings in Spring 2024. The chosen name will be announced on the HDSB website at hdsb.ca and on social media.

You can suggest names:

  • By filling out the online form.

  • By mail — send your suggestions to the Communications & Engagement Dept., Halton District School Board, PO Box 5005 STN LCD 1, Burlington, ON L7R 3Z2.

Suggestions will be accepted until Tuesday, March 12th. Feel free to reach out to us at news@miltonbaithak.ca with any news tips, story ideas, or information you'd like to share.
