Brampton Driver Charged After Stolen Transport Truck Stopped on Highway 401 in Milton

ree

A stolen transport truck has been recovered, and a Brampton man is facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) carried out a traffic stop in Milton.

According to police, an officer patrolling Highway 401 was alerted by their cruiser’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system to a stolen commercial vehicle. The truck was pulled over, and the driver — a 47-year-old Brampton resident — was taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, officers also seized a quantity of suspected heroin.

Police did not specify which charges the accused is facing.

The ALPR system uses cameras mounted on police vehicles to scan passing license plates in real time, helping identify stolen vehicles, suspended drivers, and other offences, the OPP explained.
