CN Intermodal Update & New Assisted Housing Proposal Head to Halton Council Agenda

Halton Regional Council will meet on Wednesday (Feb. 18), with several key Milton-focused matters up for discussion.

One major item is an update on the construction of the CN intermodal hub. According to a staff report, operations at the rail-to-truck facility are currently expected to begin in 2027. Regional staff say they are taking a “pragmatic and proactive” approach to monitor potential impacts and identify ways to protect the interests of Halton residents as the project moves forward.

Council will also review a proposal to develop new assisted rental housing on two Region-owned properties along Regional Road 25 in Milton. The preliminary concept outlines a four-storey residential building featuring 47 family units. Staff are requesting approval of a $2.5 million budget to support pre-development planning and related work.

In addition, councilors will receive a memorandum regarding the extension of James Snow Parkway. Halton Region is preparing an addendum to its previous environmental assessment to extend the roadway from Britannia Road to Highway 407 — a move aimed at supporting growth and improving connectivity in Milton.

Stay connected for more updates as these important discussions unfold.
