Milton Man Arrested in $46,000 Lumber Fraud Investigation


A Milton man has been arrested following a two-year fraud investigation involving stolen credit card data and lumber purchases.

Durham Regional Police launched the investigation after multiple fraudulent transactions were reported. Between January 9 and February 1, 2023, the suspect allegedly purchased large quantities of lumber from a company in Oshawa. The materials were then delivered to two commercial locations in Vaughan and Mississauga.

Authorities later determined that the suspect had used stolen credit card information from four different victims to complete the transactions, which totaled over $46,000.

On Thursday, March 20, police arrested the suspect without incident.

Charges:

Shahbaz Paracha, 37, of Milton, has been charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

  • Unauthorized use of credit card data (x4)

Paracha was released on an Undertaking.
