A Milton man is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win from the August 14 Wintario50 draw.
Harpreet (Harp) Singh says he was out running an errand for his wife when he decided to buy a ticket. A few days later, while enjoying his morning coffee, he checked it using the OLG app.
“I saw the Big Winner message on the screen and thought, ‘Is this right? Did I just see that correctly?’” Singh recalled at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I scanned it again, and the message was the same.”
Excited by the news, Singh called a family meeting to share the surprise. "There were a lot of shocked faces at first, but as the day went on, it started to sink in,” he said.
Singh plans to put his winnings toward his children’s education.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Rexall on Derry Road in Milton.
