
Halton School Board Invites Milton Parents to Annual Parent Involvement Conference
The Halton District School Board (HDSB) Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is hosting its annual Parent Involvement Committee Conference on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Elsie Mac Gill Secondary School (1410 Bronte St. S., Milton).
This year’s theme, Getting Connected, encourages parents, guardians, and community members to engage in meaningful conversations and learning experiences. Registration is open to all HDSB families and community members and can be completed via the HDSB 2025 PIC Conference registration form by Jan. 24.
Keynote Speaker and Workshops
The event will feature Dr. Alex Russell, Ph.D., C.Psych., a clinical psychologist and author of Drop the Worry Ball: How to Parent in the Age of Entitlement. Dr. Russell will discuss how experiencing failure is a normal and essential part of childhood development. He will share insights on how parents can help their children face challenges and develop resilience, resourcefulness, and emotional balance.
In addition to the keynote address, attendees can participate in workshops on a variety of topics, including:
Mental health and wellness.
The impact of artificial intelligence in education.
Preparing for post-secondary programs.
Early literacy development.
Innovative school program options.

Child Care: Complimentary child minding is available for children aged Kindergarten to 12 years.
