The Crawford Lake Visitor Centre is getting more funding from the federal government. After recently receiving $180,000 for a holographic experience, it will now receive over $2.3 million to become more energy efficient.
This week, Milton MP Adam van Koeverden, along with Treasury Board President Anita Anand and Conservation Halton CEO Chandra Sharma, announced the funding through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program.
Crawford Lake is an important site for studying the impact of human activity on the environment, and the visitor Centre showcases Indigenous art, artifacts, and educational resources. The new funding will be used to replace windows, doors, and insulation, upgrade the HVAC system, and add an accessible elevator, helping to reduce energy costs and lower carbon emissions.
The GICB program, launched in 2021, supports Canada’s plan to fight climate change by funding green and accessible building upgrades.
