Milton Youth Engage in Water Survival Skills Training

Writer: Sana ShahidSana Shahid

This weekend, many kids jumped into the pool with their clothes on to learn important winter water safety skills. The British Swim School held a special Survival Week at its Halton locations, including L.A. Fitness in Milton.

Nearly 200 children, aged 3 to 12, joined the half-hour pool sessions over three days. They practiced essential water survival skills while fully clothed to prepare for real-life emergencies.

Since people sometimes walk on frozen lakes or ponds, it's important to know how to move in water while wearing clothes and safely escape cold water.

With trained instructors guiding them, students experienced how wet clothes make swimming harder. The British Swim School runs 3 to 4 survival sessions each year, with the next one happening this summer.
