New dome for Milton Indoor Turf Centre won’t be ready until 2024

A new air-supported dome will be installed at the Milton Indoor Turf Centre, located at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School. The Milton council has approved the expenditure of up to $2 million to hire a private operator to install and maintain the dome. The facility, which is primarily used for soccer through a partnership between the Town, Halton Catholic District School Board, and the school, uses the inflated dome during the colder months.

Last December, the dome suffered severe damage from high winds and winter weather, prompting the need for a replacement. The facility, which has been operating as the Milton Indoor Turf Centre since 2013, has consistently operated at full capacity, with a high demand from the public for its reopening. According to Town officials, the facility generates a slight profit each year.

During a recent meeting, Milton councillors approved the expenditure with the understanding that once a builder is selected and the details are finalized, the new dome is expected to be in place by the fall of 2024.
