New Fifth Line Bus Route and Fall Service Changes Coming to Milton Transit on September 8

Milton Transit riders will see a new route and a series of schedule changes when fall service begins next month, including added service to a growing employment area and updates timed to the new school year.

What Happened

According to FM101 Milton Now, Milton Transit will roll out several service enhancements starting Sept. 8, 2026. The centrepiece is a new Route 31 - Fifth Line, which will provide weekday peak-period service along the Derry Green Corporate Business Park. Morning trips will run from about 5:22 a.m. to 9:20 a.m., with afternoon and evening service from about 2:25 p.m. to 7:03 p.m.

Several School Extra routes are also being updated for the 2026-27 school year to better match school schedules and locations. Changes affect routes serving Milton District High School, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School, Craig Kielburger Secondary School, St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School and Elsie MacGill Secondary School. Route 53A, which serves Milton District High School, is being renumbered as Route 55, and a new Route 56 will serve Elsie MacGill Secondary School.

At the Milton GO bus terminal, some stops are moving: Routes 9A and 9B shift to the inside loop, while Routes 2E and 2W move to the outside loop, and new stop-identification numbers will be introduced inside the loop. Route 1 - High Point will also see minor schedule adjustments.
