One of the individuals arrested and charged in connection with a stolen vehicle-dismantling operation hails from Milton.
On Tuesday, April 9th, a newer model Mercedes-Benz was reported stolen from a shopping plaza in Brampton. Prompt investigation led authorities to Netherhart Road in Mississauga, where an automotive shop was found housing several high-end stolen vehicles undergoing dismantling and destruction.
Peel Police investigators discovered numerous stolen luxury cars with altered VIN numbers, alongside significant vehicle parts scattered throughout the shop and its vicinity. The stolen vehicles were being stripped for valuable components, with the remaining parts sent to a local metal recycling facility for profit.
A search warrant executed the following day at the auto shop unveiled additional parts and equipment used in vehicle dismantling.
The arrested individuals and their charges include:
Raynor Bucknor, 56, of Mississauga
Washburn Ellott, 54, of Brampton
Kevin Thomas, 53, of Milton
Steven Uka, 60, of Etobicoke
Each individual faces a total of 18 charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime (ten counts), tampering with vehicle identification numbers (three counts), and mischief over $5000 (four counts).
Through this investigation, authorities identified eight stolen vehicles valued at $225,000.
