Town of Milton Honored for Successfully Converting Bus to Electric Power

ree

The Town of Milton has earned national recognition for its leadership in sustainable transit, receiving the Canadian Urban Transit Association’s Award for Innovation for its electric bus pilot project.

During a presentation at CUTA’s Fall 2025 Conference in Montreal, the organization highlighted Milton’s collaboration with MTB Transit Solutions, which led to Canada’s first mid-life conversion of a diesel bus to electric battery power. The project was commended for offering a practical roadmap for small and mid-sized transit systems transitioning to electrification. CUTA noted that the initiative reflects strong leadership in transit technology, accessibility, service delivery, and environmental sustainability.

“We are thrilled to receive an award that recognizes Milton’s commitment to finding innovative, practical ways to reduce emissions and support a more sustainable future,” said Tony D’Alessandro, Director of Transit Services.
